Cafe

Lovingly made in-house, our meals and snacks use fresh, seasonal produce to create delicious dishes for our guests. With hot coffee & bacon butties in the morning, cakes, salads & sandwiches at lunch, and hearty, home-made daily specials, there’s something that suits everyone’s tastes.

Located under our spectacularly restored central skylight, The Old Library café is fully accessible and provides catering for all users of the building. Our aim is to be environmentally sustainable, minimising food waste and making greener choices, like saying no to single-use plastic.

Open weekdays 9am to 2pm, and 10-2pm on Saturdays, visitors can enjoy free WiFi, browse our bookshelves and take a seat in a cosy corner of this beautiful heritage space. On fine days, wander out onto our terrace and relax with a fresh pot of tea and a slice of cake.

Choosing to visit The Old Library café will help us to re-invest in our community. When you buy one of our healthy snacks, you help Lister Steps provide safe outdoor play & exercise space for local young children. When you relax with a freshly-ground coffee, you help us reach out to isolated people in our community.
